If there’s one,
there’s two.

A completely free alternative to one-on-one therapy.

Changing the way we discuss our grief, mental health and well-being in open and honest spaces. Nobody should ever feel isolated, and there is always somebody who will relate to your story. ‘If there’s one, there’s two.’

what is the new normal?

The New Normal provides free non-judgemental peer support for adults facing life’s difficult moments, particularly bereavement.

Peer-to-peer support is a model that TNN has proudly embraced since its inception. We believe the best therapy is talking with others with similar life experiences.

The Charity was founded by friends who had bonded over the death of their fathers, who wanted to share and expand their conversations around grief with others experiencing loss.

Since our first ‘Good Grief’ meeting in May 2018, we have provided more than a thousand meetings to more than a thousand individuals - that equates to more than 100,000 minutes of free grief and mental health peer support!

Our Mission.

The New Normal provides space for adults who are struggling with life’s difficult moments, particularly bereavement, to discuss these issues through non-judgemental peer group support.

We believe that nobody should ever feel isolated, and there is always somebody who will relate to your story.

Our aim is provide free and accessible grief support for all, and to open up, and expand, these important conversations.

Our VALUES.

Empathy

To always act with kindness, compassion and care.

Honesty

Create an environment where people can share authentically, without having to self-censor.

Equity

Creating a fair and impartial environment, where barriers are addressed and all people can show up as their truest self.

Our Meetings.

We have been facilitating conversations between individuals who find themselves in similar positions since 2018.

We believe that grief and mental health support should be free and accessible to all people, and so we are committed to keeping our peer support meetings free, forever

Hosted by peer volunteers who have lived experience of the topic, our spaces are open, empathetic and non-judgemental.

We deliver around 25-30 meetings per month for a range of grief and mental health experiences, communities and identities.

Our training.

We are a community-building charity who believe in the importance and power of co-production with existing communities.

As part of our Building Supportive Communities Project, we train other charities, organisations, groups and individuals to deliver dedicated peer support within their own communities.

The Project, funded at present through Rethink Mental Illness, allows us to share our learning, tools and experience with a diverse range of communities so they can co-produce support that is reactive to their nuances and needs.

In addition, The New Normal have also developed Compassionate Communities workplace training to empower your organisation. This is a unique opportunity to foster empathy, vulnerability, and openness within your workforce, with a bespoke training program that paves the way for a new workplace culture where authenticity flourishes and well-being is centred.

Our Partners.

We would like to thank the following partners, funders and friends of the charity for their continued support and belief in our mission. The New Normal would not be where it is today without them.
